Week 2 Update

Assembly

Last weeks assembly was conducted by Room 6, who shared with us their knowledge of convicts from the first fleet and in particular the story of….. , who as a 9 year old, was the youngest convict to be sent to Australia. All students did an amazing job remembering their lines and confidently speaking to a large audience. Congratulations to all of of Honour Certificate winners who are listed below.

NAIDOC Celebration

Last Friday, 28 July we held our Dianella Education Precinct NAIDOC Celebration, with a joint assembly between the three schools despite a few minor hiccups, the assembly was very successful. Our two student Masters Of Ceremony, Israel and Cassie did an outstanding job keeping the assembly on track. Special acknowledgment of Cassie, who only stepped into the role on Friday morning, well done! Our choir also did an outstanding job presenting two items, a song Wandjoo My Friend and an interpretive performance to Maambakoort Bedik Bedik. Well done to all choir performers, you certainly starred on the big stage!

DSC STEM Program

For the first time, Dianella Secondary College is offering an after-school STEM CLUB during Term 3 weeks 3, 6 and 9.  Students from Year 4, 5 and 6 who are interested in coding, robotics and Aboriginal culture are encouraged to participate in this program.

Our specialist STEM enrichment program is by application only and students in this taster program will be encouraged to apply. This is an innovative and integrated approach to learning by combining key elements of Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Aboriginal concepts. It is offered to students to engage them in a collaborative manner and address the needs of 21st century skills and employment opportunities. Students will be immersed in a creative environment, whereby they are encouraged and motivated to find solutions to real problems locally and globally, while simultaneously addressing the requirements of the WA and Australian curriculum.

If you would like to know more about the program, please see the flier attached, or if you would like to enrol your child, please follow the link below.
