Week 6 Update

Assembly

Wow - what an amazing assembly we had today presented by our PP1 class. The students created their own class story about missing food in the woods, which they produced as a book for their lucky parents and acted out for the audience. Along with their acting skills, the students also presented their singing and signing skills. The students have been learning Auslan, and today they presented the song We Are One using, their signing skills. Well donePP1, your assembly certainly showcased your learning and inclusivity for all. Very impressive. Congratulations to all of our Honour Certificate winners who were acknowledge at the assembly for their ongoing display of our school values, see the full list of students below.

Book Week Parade

This Friday, 25 August we will be holding our book week parade. We are encouraging all students to dress as their favourite book character for our parade. We have some great prizes on offer for each year level, so if you haven’t got your costume ready, time is running out! Students if you have a copy of the book that your character is in, please bring this along so we can see the amazing resemblance.

Our book week parade will take place from 9am on the basketball court in front of the staffroom. Parents and families are welcome to stay and join in on the fun. Looking forward to seeing some amazing and creative costumes.

Our Kindergarten A students, who don’t attend school on Friday, got into the book week theme yesterday and dressed as their favourite book characters. Great effort Kindy A, Mrs Gurner and Mrs Siano.

Sports Carnival

Next Friday, 1 September we will be holding our annual Faction Athletics Carnival. Students are encouraged to dress in their Faction colours and for a gold coin donation, students can get their hair coloured by the Yr 6 students (all money raised will go towards the 2024 Yr 6 camp).

Faction carnival action gets underway from 9.15am and is normally concluded around 2.30pm.

Looking forward to seeing as many families and friends as possible joining us on the day for what is always a great event.

Parents and Citizens Meeting

Tomorrow, Thursday 24 August our dedicated and hard-working P&C Committee will be holding a P&C meeting. The main purpose of tomorrow’s meeting is to finalise organisation for the upcoming food stall to be held at our Faction Carnival. The P&C is looking for parents to help out on the day, either selling food, helping to set up/pack away or to cook up a storm on the BBQ. Without additional support, the P&C will not be able to effectively run the stall and we are asking for as many parents as possible to help out the parents helping your children. If you are unable to attend the meeting tomorrow but are able to help out on the day of the carnival, please let the school office know via email or phone and we will pass on your details to the P&C. dianella.pc@education.wa.edu.au 9263 5100.

Governer’s Visit

As a school, we are very lucky to be receiving a visit from the Govenor of WA, Mr Chris Dawson. Mr and Mrs Dawson will visit our school on Wednesday 6 September to join us for our school assembly and to also make a special presentation to two of our amazing students. We are certainly looking forward to the visit and the presentation that will be made on the day!
